3 new "secret" features - you heard it here first
We're testing 3 new features on iLike. These are not password-protected, but they're harder to find unless you know how to get there, so we're telling you first so you can help us test them and give us feedback before we make them more broadly visible:
1 - The "Name That Tune" quiz
Go play the Name That Tune game at http://iLike.com/challenge - it's pretty fun. Make sure to take the survey on that page - once we get enough feedback we'll open this up to everybody. If you get started playing now, you can get a headstart on getting the best score among your friends!
2- Emerging artists discovery pages
iLike has tons of music from undiscovered artists who submit their music on GarageBand.com. We've received feedback from both users and artists who want to see more music from GarageBand. We're testirng a new page listing all the GarageBand genres, you can pick a genre, play any song, download music for free, and even to subscribe to free music as a podcast in iTunes. Check it out: http://iLike.com/emerging.
3- New "charts" showing the fastest-moving music of the week
Check out our new charts at http://iLike.com/artist. We've been asked by lots of people to add music charts to iLike, we didn't do it immediately because it's hard to get right. Even what we have isn't perfect, but it's a great first step. Our charts measure what's "fastest-moving" - a song or artist can only stay on the chart if they grow in popularity week after week after week. This ensures the music is reasonably fresh. We still plan to improve this to add some way to break it down by your tastes.
Hope you enjoy the new features of the site, and invite your friends to check them out!
Lastly, the latest iLike team quote of the week comes from Josh and Eugene.
Eugene (while working on our new charts technology): "Hmm, the way I want to build this isn't possible to do with today's technology. Maybe we should build it now but ship it in 2-3 years when hardware catches up?".
Josh (in reply): "No!! We're not working on Vista!!!"
Oh, and I almost forgot to add - we moved offices!! We are no longer
holed up in a dark, dank cave. We now have a spacious suite with tall
ceilings, and best of all, everybody has a window office! Of course, we're growing, so we'll probably run out of space here soon, but we can enjoy it while it lasts. :-)
HEHE!!!!!!!!
